Springfield – State Representative Brad Stephens (R–Chicago) released the following statement after working towards the bipartisan passage of Chicago Casino legislation that passed by a vote of 77-32:
“The Chicago Casino is a long time coming. To see it come to fruition and finally get into the construction phase is exciting. The casino will provide revenue that benefits the entire State by being a vital source of revenue for the capital bill. Capital projects are more important now than ever, because they will help employ people as we rebuild our state’s infrastructure. As we come out of the pandemic, capital projects will be a major economic driver.”
“As a proud supporter of the people in our police and fire departments, the most significant provision of this bill is a mechanism that will be used to provide funding for the men and women of the Chicago police and fire departments. First Responders are on the front lines fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is important the legislature find a way to secure a revenue stream for them.”
The legislation, SB 516, will now move to the Senate for their consideration.
