Chicago…State Representative Brad Stephens (R-Chicago) hosted his third telephone town hall this year on Thursday, June 18th to provide a State Government update, discuss Illinois’ fiscal situation, and to answer questions about current events.
“It is important for me to host these Tele-TownHalls in order to be accessible to my constituents until we are able to resume more in-person interactions. I wanted to inform residents about where the State stands as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic and discuss special session,” said Stephens. “My job is to be open and communicative with our communities, to answer questions and hear their concerns.”
Stephens hosted two previous town halls on Covid-19 earlier this year, and has been using virtual town halls as a way to stay in touch with residents during the era of social distancing. Topics that were discussed on the townhall included the budget, the Covid-19 pandemic, and current events.
In total, nearly 1000 people virtually attended the townhall. Participants were asked their opinions on the State’s reopening timeline: 20% thought the State was opening too fast, 46% thought the State was opening at about the right pace, and 34% thought the State was moving too slow.
Residents with concerns can also reach out to the legislative office at (773) 444-0611 or email stephens@ilhousegop.org with any questions or issues.
