Stephens Hosting Drive Thru Flu Shot Event

In light of COVID-19 and in the interest of the health of district residents, State Representative Brad Stephens (R-Rosemont) is offering a drive thru flu shot event in Rosemont.

Influenza, or the flu, is one of the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States annually. From October 2019 to April 4, 2020, the US Centers for Disease Prevention and Control estimates there were as many as 56 million flu illnesses, 740,000 hospitalizations and up to 62,000 deaths from the flu. According to the World Health Organization, because of COVID-19, it is especially important to get a flu shot this year because they can be difficult to distinguish from one another and the need to keep hospital capacity available for a potential fall surge in COVID.

“Getting a flu shot every year is important, but this year more so than ever,” Rep. Stephens said. “We’re all wary of our health these days, I’m pleased to provide this convenient and safe service for the district.”

Rep. Stephens is partnering with Walgreens to administer the shots. The event will take place in the parking lot of the Rosemont Theater at 5400 N River Road on September 8th from 9 A.M. until Noon. Drivers are asked to come in off Technology Boulevard, follow the signs, and stay in their car until it is their turn.

Residents are asked to bring their insurance cards. The shot is free with Medicare B and PPO insurance. Those with an HMO group or no insurance will be charged $40.99, acceptable via check only.
