Rep. Stephens Launches “Lasso a Good Book” Summer Reading Program

CHICAGO – This summer, State Representative Brad Stephens (R-Rosemont) is launching his “Lasso a Good Book” summer reading program. This program is open to 20th District kindergarten through 8th graders for the summer of 2022.

“Reading is an excellent way for students of all ages to learn about new people, places, and things that are real and make-believe,” said Rep. Stephens. “I encourage all eligible students to participate and take the challenge of reading ten books this summer to see where their imaginations take them. Open your summer vacation to countless possibilities by lassoing a good book!”

To be a summer reader, eligible students must read ten books by August 1st, 2022. Books for local library programs are also acceptable and books over 150 pages may count for two books. After reading their books, students should have their parents visit RepStephens.com and click “Lasso a Good Book Summer Reading Program.” There, they can list online how many books they read over the summer.

To help keep track of books and for individuals who would prefer to submit a paper form, that form can be found online at RepStephens.com or by clicking here. Parents and students can drop off or mail the paper form to Rep. Stephens’ district office at 5515 N. East River Road, Chicago and include an additional page with listed books if the student read over 10 books.

All participants that read 10 books will receive a voucher for two tickets to see the Chicago Wolves at the Allstate Arena during the 2022-23 Season. The individual who reads the most books beyond the 10-book goal will be the summer’s “Grand Champion” and receive two tickets for the B96 Jingle Bash in December 2022.

Local library addresses in the 20th District can also be found on Rep. Stephens’ website. Individuals with questions can call (773) 444-0611.
