Rep. Stephens Hosting Children’s Safety Expo in August

CHICAGO – State Representative Brad Stephens (R-Rosemont) is hosting a summer Children’s Safety Expo on Saturday, August 20th. 20th District residents are invited to join him that day from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady Mother of the Church (8747 W. Lawrence, Chicago).

“We have lots of fun activities for children across the 20th District to learn and explore at our children’s fair,” said Rep. Stephens. “I’m glad to be hosting this event that will include fun demonstrations, neat touch-a-trucks, and helpful information for children and parents. I invite everyone to join us!”

29 touch-a-trucks and over 40 vendors will be at this event. Vendors include CN Police, Commonwealth Edison, First Student, Juice Plus, LevelUP Fitness, Metra Police, North Elston Kindercare, PACE, Prudential Insurance, RTA, Superior Ambulance, The Arc of Illinois, Total Life Chiropractic, U Know Me Towing, the University of Illinois Extension, Be Smart, and Northwestern Medicine.

Vendors attending from the State of Illinois will be the Illinois Conservation Police, Department of Transportation, Secretary of State Police, and the Offices of the Attorney General, Secretary of State, and Treasurer.

Vendors attending from the city of Chicago are the Chicago Fire Department, Police Department, Department of Public Health, Streets & Sanitation, Emergency Management and CTA. Cook County will have vendors from the Highway Department, Cook County Sheriff & K-9, and the Department of Homeland Security.

Officials from the villages of Franklin Park, Harwood Heights, Niles, Rosemont, and Schiller Park will also be there.

Demonstrations at the event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and are as follows:

  • OTA Taekwondo Interactive Class – 9:30 a.m.
  • Cook County Sheriff K-9 – 10:00 a.m.
  • Traveling World of Reptiles Show – 10:30 a.m.
  • Cheer Destiny All Stars – 11:40 a.m.
  • Fun and Fit Interactive Class – Noon

Child ID’s, bouncy houses, glitter tattoos, and FREE refreshments and giveaways, including a bicycle and more, will be available at this event. There will also be information on programs like I-Cash, Bright Start College Savings Program, daycare, and more.
