CHICAGO – Next weekend, State Representative Brad Stephens (R-Rosemont) is hosting a Spring Cleaning Electronics Recycling Event at his district office in Chicago. He invites constituents to join him at the East parking lot of his district office (5515 N. East River Rd.) on Saturday, May 6th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for this event. He is joining Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Kimberly du Buclet and Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart to also provide a prescription drug drop off and shred truck at this event.
“The sun is in the sky longer, the trees are blooming, and despite the cold, spring is here in the 20th District!” said Rep. Stephens. “This is a perfect time to tackle spring cleaning in your home and safely dispose of old electronics, unused or expired prescription drugs, and sensitive documents. Start your Saturday off with a spring cleaning kick and join us in Chicago for this free event!”
Constituents are asked to please enter off Gregory Street as they will not be able to enter off Catalpa Avenue. Everyone is asked to please stay in their vehicles and someone will take their items. Brochures on state programs will also be available.
Electronic items that are accepted include all types of cables, cell phones, telephone devices, computers, laptops, hardware, motherboards, holiday lights, monitors, calculators, printers, fax machines, game systems, stereos, televisions (limit one per household), toasters, blenders, toner cartridges, UPS batteries, and car batteries. Only one TV/computer is permitted per family and one standard box of electronics, there is a limit of two grocery bags for shred items, and liquid medication and sharps will not be accepted in the prescription drug drop off.
Constituents with questions about this event can call Rep. Stephens’ Chicago district office at (773) 444-0611.
