Illini State Park

Out by Marseilles south of the Illinois River is the 510-acre Illini State Park. Native trees include hickory, ash, walnut, elm, cottonwood, oak, and maple. Picnic areas, shelters, and playgrounds are throughout the park and several shelters have working fireplaces! There are both tent and trailer campsites, including electric and sanitation service. A youth camp area is available for youth group and river fishing is a popular activity, where a boat ramp is available.

William G. Stratton State Park

With four public boat launching ramps, boating, fishing, or water skiing is a great way to spend an afternoon at William G. Stratton State Park. There is also a jet ski launching area. Picnic tables and benches are also provided, and the I&M Canal State Trail is the northern boundary to be enjoyed by hikers, bicyclists, nature lovers, and snowmobilers.

Silver Springs Fish & Wildlife Area

A pool of clear bubbling water which sparkles like silver on sunny days provides the basis for the name of this wildlife area, because even on extremely cold days, the pool doesn’t freeze. The Fox River runs through the park and a natural prairie restoration project includes native wildflowers, songbirds, waterfowl, and upland game. You can picnic, fish, hike in the summer, and there is also an Archery Range, boating, camping, canoeing, equestrian trails, and hunting at this fun-filled state park.

James Pate Philip State Park

Nestled between houses, a gravel pit, a sport field, and a landfill, James P Philip State Park is preserved and protected, home to a wetland in the center of the park. This park includes bike trails, fishing, hiking trails, hunting, and shelter reservations.
