Women to Watch: Female Leaders Visit the Capitol

State Representative Brad Stephens participated in the House Republicans’ annual Women to Watch event in Springfield. The event brings female leaders from across Illinois to the Capitol for a day of recognition, celebration, and networking. Each State Representative nominates female leaders from their district to be honored for their work leading in their communities.

This year, Representative Brad Stephens invited two guests, Terri Sheridan and Shawn Campbell, and was thrilled to recognize them for their work in the 20th District.

“They are making a difference each day to build up a better, stronger community,” said Rep. Stephens.

This year’s event included a special panel discussion with House Minority Leader Tony McCombie and the Lieutenant Governor of Iowa, Chris Cournoyer. Lt. Governor Cournoyer is a strong advocate for STEM education and has worked to expand opportunities for students, through hands-on, work-based learning. The two leaders discussed their respective roles serving in state legislatures, their journey to leadership, and what has helped them along the way.

Rep. Stephens enjoyed participating in this year’s event, honoring his nominees, and recognizing the impressive work happening in communities across the state.
