CHICAGO – Next Saturday, State Representative Brad Stephens (R-Rosemont) is hosting an Electronics Recycling, Shred Truck, and Prescription Drug Drop-Off Event with Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart and Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Kimberly du Buclet. They invite people to join them on Saturday, November 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at his Chicago district office (5515 N. East River Rd., Chicago).
“After our successful recycling event in September, I’m glad to join Sheriff Dart and Commissioner du Buclet for another event at my district office this fall,” said Rep. Stephens. “I encourage 20th District constituents to stop by to recycle their electronics, drop off expired or unused prescription drugs, or shred sensitive documents next Saturday morning.”
This will be a drive-thru outdoor event. Drivers should enter from Gregory Street and follow the marked lanes when entering and exiting the parking lot. Free document shredding will be available with a limit of 2 grocery bags per car. This is residential only and will be available until the truck is full.
Electronic items that are accepted include all types of cables, cell phones, telephone devices, computers, laptops, hardware, motherboards, monitors, calculators, printers, fax machines, game systems, stereos, televisions (LIMIT ONE PER HOUSEHOLD), toasters, blenders, toner cartridges, UPS batteries, and car batteries. Holiday lights will not be accepted.
Accepted medications include prescription medications, prescription ointments and patches, pet medications, and vitamins. Restricted items for the prescription drug drop off include sharps, illegal drugs, and liquid medications.
