State Representative Brad Stephens was recently recognized by the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois for his work in the Illinois House of Representatives.
This year, Rep. Stephens backed a commonsense measure (HB1648) to allow disabled and retired firefighters to have union dues deducted directly from their pension benefits. The legislation was a key initiative for AFFI, and it streamlines the process, reduces unnecessary paperwork, and helps retired firefighters remain active members of their unions.
The Representative has prioritized his support for first responders in Springfield, and this award is recognition of his continued efforts.
“It is an honor to receive their legislative award for my work in the Illinois House, backing initiatives to help firefighters – they do it all to keep our communities safe,” said Stephens.
